Motherboard, logic board, or main board, no matter what you call it, it’s all the same thing. It sounds like an alien spaceship but it’s actually the part of your phone that contains all most fundamental components, including memory and central processing. Computers have more than one circuit board but your phone only has one.

Think of your smartphone’s motherboard equivalent to your brain. Virtually everything that makes your phone do what it does is found right here. Just as your brain appears complicated, so does the motherboard. Once you deconstruct the whole thing you find each and every component has a very specific function.

If your motherboard becomes damaged, your phone could malfunction in numerous ways. For example, it may turn on and off without warning, or stop producing sounds altogether, or only produce vibrations.

There are many different things that can cause damage to the motherboard on your phone, including (but certainly not limited to):

    • Dropping your phone
    • Water or sand getting inside your phone
    • Poorly completed repairs

that end up knocking important components out of place.

  • Using faulty power supply to charge phone.
  • If your phone overheats.
